All users have the ability to upload videos up to 15 minutes in length. You can attain the ability to upload longer length videos if:
Your account is in good standing, as determined by the YouTube Community Guidelines.
You verify your account with a mobile phone.
Your account has no worldwide Content ID blocks on any content
On the upload page, click the link to Increase your limit to be prompted to verify your account. If you do not have the option to verify your account, or if you lose your access to long uploads, the best first step is to check your account for copyright claims and strikes. Eligible users can also use this link to increase their limit.
Frequently Asked Questions
Longer length uploads are available globally to users with verified accounts. Videos can be up to 12 hours long.
Why are you doing this?
YouTube creators are some of the most innovative, entertaining and inspirational individuals in the world, and their creativity often cannot be displayed in 15 minutes. To that end, we’re offering longer length uploads for individuals whose accounts are in good standing and who have completed an SMS verification on their account.
Are there any restrictions on the type of content that I can now upload?
Our Copyright Policies and Community Guidelines still stand, regardless of length of video. If we receive a DMCA notification against any video uploaded by a user, they will receive a strike and automatically lose their ability to upload content of longer length. A user will also lose this privilege if they receive a global Content ID block on any video.
Why am I unable to have the upload limit increased on my account?
We are only removing the limit on video length for users who have verified their account is active and in their control via SMS, as well as for users whose accounts are in good standing, meaning they have no copyright or community guidelines violations. Content ID global blocks on even one video will lead to removal of this privilege.
Someone uploaded my copyrighted content to YouTube. What can I do?
YouTube is committed to helping copyright holders find and remove allegedly infringing content from our site. If you believe someone has uploaded your copyrighted content, please submit a copyright infringement notification.
