Don’t buy a greeting card. Send a blessing…
Buddhist Blessings online – A blessing for you, your family or friends, can change the lives of others.
“Making a donation to a Buddhist Temple (Wat) in return for a blessing from a monk is a tradition that is centuries old. OrangeRobes.com now offers this opportunity online.” Adrian Low, Co-Founder of OrangeRobes.com.
Donate for a blessing from OrangeRobes.com and you will receive a personal blessing from Buddhist monks from Wat Chrey in Prey Veng province Cambodia. More importantly, you will be supporting various social programs including The Cambodian Rural Development Team (CRDT), Cambodia Retirement Village (CRV) and our Local Wat Fund in Prey Veng, Cambodia.
Our aim is two-fold
1. To offer online Buddhist blessings for those whom have a connection with Buddhism or Cambodia.
2. Offer financial assistance to several small not-for-profit organisations who may miss out on the donor dollar.
Without the support from the monks at Wat Chrey, OrangeRobes.com would not exist.
About the Wat/Temple/Pagoda
Location: Chrey Village, Chrey Commune, Svay Antor District, Prey Veng Province, Kingdom of Cambodia (South-eastern part of Cambodia close to Vietnamese border). The Wat would welcome a visit from anyone interested in supporting their community projects.
Under the guidance of the Venerable Ten Yonn, Head of Monks at Wat Chrey, there are currently 7 monks based at the Wat, ranging in age from 21 to 75. These monks are supported by a non-monk committee overseeing projects and development affairs. The Wat services 10 villages made up of approx 1500 families.
Wat Chrey is the oldest Wat in the commune and has been supporting the local community for over 100 years.
The monks of Wat Chrey are dedicated to assisting those that seek out a buddhist blessing.
In return for their support of OrangeRobes.com, we are raising funds for Wat Chrey to assist with their own community support projects.
The two major projects the OrangeRobes family are dedicated to support for Wat Chrey are:
1. Construction of Primary School – a new primary school building has recently been completed, however there is still strong need for another building due to the overcrowding in the current classrooms. The continuation of this project requires large investment of US$20,000 to US$30,000 per five to six classroom building.
2. Construction of Sala Chhan – Sala Chhan means Blessing and Dining Building. Currently the Wat Committee together with monks are raising funds and the construction is underway. The construction project is estimated to cost around US$30,000. The committee have already invested about US$18,000 so far. US$12,500 in additional funds is required to complete the project.
